Just wanted to share something I read about military war dogs that trained to detect  landmines in the past, this was way way back. Land mines was a huge problem those days and soldiers were getting blown up left and right and so the they came up with a canine unit to help with the problem, only these canines were trained to detect and disarm the mines by means of stepping on them. The soldiers will sent batches of them out before securing an area. Sad aint it... Good news is they stoped the programme almost as soon as it began due to public outcry.
